A little history:
In January of 2008, I was asked to contract as editor of a local (Seattle) neighborhood newsletter called Roosevelt News. I handled the editing, layout and ad design. Starting in March of 2008 the newsletter was printed and distributed to 3000 homes in the Roosevelt neighborhood on a monthly basis.

It was well-received and grew in popularity at an alarming rate. Soon we would hire writers, salespeople and a copyeditor. By fall of 2008 we realized that the newsletter was becoming a magazine and needed a more appropriate brand. We changed the name to American Family Magazine, designed a new logo and added a Web site where our readers could download a PDF version of the magazine each month. Readership jumped to 75,000.

In July 2011 we took the magazine to yet another level. We discontinued the PDF version in favor of redesigning the website for posting the articles directly to the site. Again, our readership skyrocketed and continues to grow.
